Best Word Processing Software

Word Perfect is the best word processing software out there. I've had used several other versions for over 20 years at work and often useed Word Perfect to create the documents and then imported them into the company's required software without any problems.

There are many great features, the ones I like the best are Word Perfect's image placement & properties options, and the Revel Codes feature.

Images are much easier to place & keep in place in Word Perfect. Other software companies don’t seem to get how to do this.

The Revel Codes feature has been a huge time saver over the years. Many problems with the company's documents that could not be fixed in the software they used, were easily fixed in Word Perfect. The Revel Codes feature revels what's really going on and allows you to easily fix what you, or the technical writing department, can’t fix in other software packages.

Word Perfect will also still opens documents from the 90's when I was in school using the DOS based version.

I have not updated my old version for over 10 years. I am updating to windows 10 via a virtual PC on a Mac and figured I should start with a newer version here. Same great interface, same great features, and still easy to use.

Good value for an office suite

I guess there are still some people who still use WordPerfect. I'm not one of them, and purchased this for a client. Once the dominant force in word processing (I cut my teeth on WP for DOS many years ago.), WordPerfect currently accounts for only about 5% of this market today. It's niche user group appears to be legal professionals who enjoy it's robust formatting and legal document oriented features. It does have the capability to work with Word format documents, which helps keep it in the game, and the WP Suite is definitely a bargain compared to Microsoft's per machine license (although the subscription-based Office 365 Home is far less expensive per user if you have a larger number). All in all, a respectable alternative if you're working in the legal arena or just want something other than Word.

I have been using word perfect for 30 years. I upgraded because the new version has features that help me with pdf.s and converting stuff from word. This program gives a more accurate conversion of documents from word. I also occasionally use 30 year old files and this makes it easy. The only thing missing is "file manager" which was a tool in early word perfect versions that allowed me to go through my directories looking for old files that were similar to what I need to produce. It was a split screen with the directories displayed on the top half and if you highlighted a file it would display on the bottom of the screen. That was a big help.

I have been a faithful WordPerfect user for more than 30 years. I have always liked the features and ease of use. I also like not being forced into doing things the "Microsoft way." I have been running WP Suite 8 for many years and have been afraid to upgrade for fear that everything will change with each new release. There have been about a dozen upgrades over the years so I fully expected there have been lots of changes in how things are done. I bought a new computer and decided I would upgrade to WP Office X9. I was thoroughly surprised and delighted when after installing (which went smooth as glass), that not only were there no significant UI changes, but my old data files which I created many years ago, all worked perfectly without any conversions or other annoying problems. I have NEVER had this happen with any other software applications from any other providers. THANK YOU, Corel! Good Job!

Crash bang boom

I've used WP for many many years, stuck with it thru thick and thin, written five books and countless magazine articles with WP, even with the hassle of submitting it to editors all of whom use Word. But this 9 is terrible. First of all, the icons across the top and bottom bars show up as microscopic dots bunched closely together, especially problematic when trying to see if the caps lock is on. But what’s much worse is the constant unpredictable crashing. Now admittedly it may be the fault of my fairly new Dell PC, but I used the previous version of WP for many years on a much older Dell and never had either of these problems. I’m too stuck in my ways to change to a different word processor now, but I certainly would warn anyone thinking of buying this program of this issue. Buyer beware....

This version is very little different than the previous version (X5) which I was using. Interface colors may be better, but this X9 has some bugs related to Windows 10, which X5 apparently does not have. Using $ (currency) configuration with X9 in spreadsheets is an issue with some quattro pro files, which X5 does not have, though X9 seems better equipped to interface with pdf. Am hoping Corel will bring in the pest control with an update to eliminate the buggy issues. All said, I still find quattro pro spreadsheets easier to work with than MS excel. And I give Corel A++ marks for hanging in to compete with Microsoft.

Let me guess, you're still either using an old version of WP or you can't stop using Word because of all its great features. Fear not WP has a new version--newer than this but I'll stick with this for my review. Funny thing about my review, I just upgraded from about 5 versions ago and I can't tell the differences. All looks the same to me. Maybe the font at the top of the screen is a little bit smoother. Other than that it looks the same.
I like that I could download it from Amazon, that was nice and made it really easy.

Doesn't have a mic feature like Word, so that's nice, no need to compete there. I'm not quite sure who they are competing with. I've got it because my old, meaning retired, law partner had it and I've got stuff I can't get rid of and have to open occasionally.

Should you get it? Of course. For some sick reason I like this better than Word. Feels less bloated. But I would like a mic feature.
